Ejemplos:

Is John doing his homework? (Usamos el «to be» con el verbo «doing».

Are John and his sister in school now?

Do you like to play soccer? Por eso usamos «to do».

Ejemplos

Is Mary home? Yes, she is. (Con el verbo «to be» - Si la respuesta ea afirmativa usamos «Yes» + Pronombre («She» en lugar de «Mary») y el verbo auxiliar («is», en este caso en tercera persona singular).

Is Mary home? No She isn't (Con el verbo «to be» - Si la respuesta ea negativa usamos «No» + Pronombre («She» en lugar de «Mary») y el verbo auxiliar abreviado («isn't », en lugar de «is not» en este caso en tercera persona singular).

Does Angela travel to Mexico every month?, Yes, She does. (Con el verbo auxiliar «to do» - Si la respuesta ea afirmativa usamos «Yes» + Pronombre («She» en lugar de «Angela») y el verbo auxiliar («do» en este caso en tercera persona singular).
